Foundation Base Coat

Foundation Base Coat is the elastomeric bond layer of the Enviroguard Liquid-Applied Foundation Waterproofing System. Applied at 23–30 wet mils, it flows into surface irregularities for a uniform base and locks reinforcing mesh into cracks, cove joints, and stress points. It retains flexibility at low temperatures for cold-weather service and creates a sound adhesion layer for the Foundation Waterproofer top membrane. Rated for Systems 2 & 3.

  • Uniform base coverage. Flows into surface irregularities to create an even, consistent bond layer across the wall face.
  • Mesh embedment. Locks reinforcing fabric into cracks and cove joints for added strength at stress points.
  • Excellent adhesion. Builds a sound bond layer that anchors the Foundation Waterproofer top membrane.
  • Low-temperature flexibility. Passes low-temp flexibility testing, staying flexible for cold-service applications.
  • Coverage rate. 50–70 ft²/gal at 23–30 wet mils.
  • System compatibility. Rated for Systems 2 & 3, on poured concrete, brick, densified masonry, concrete block/CMU, rubble stone, structural concrete, crawl space and basement walls, pre-formed concrete, and EnviroSeal-densified masonry.
  1. Confirm Bridging & Joint Compound detailing is complete and cured.
  2. Apply Foundation Base Coat at 23–30 wet mils across the full prepared wall face.
  3. Embed reinforcing mesh at cracks, cove joints, and stress concentrations while the coat is still wet.
  4. Allow a 12-hour re-coat window at 68°F (20°C) before applying the top membrane.
  5. Inspect for defects, pinholes, or thin areas and correct as needed.
  6. Proceed to the Foundation Waterproofer upon satisfactory installation.

Foundation Base Coat covers 50–70 ft²/gal when applied at 23–30 wet mils. Actual yield varies with substrate porosity and surface texture, so rougher or more porous walls will draw toward the lower end of the range.
