1. Prepare the surface

  • Thoroughly clean the surface to remove dirt, debris, or loose materials.
  • Repair any cracks, gaps, or holes with an appropriate filler or grout.
  • Ensure the surface is completely dry before application, as per manufacturer instructions (some products may be applied to a damp but not actively leaking surface).

2. Apply MasonryGuard.

  • Mix the paint thoroughly before use. Do not dilute unless specified.
  • Apply the first coat with a brush, roller, or sprayer making sure to work the paint into the surface pores. For roller application, back-brushing is often recommended to ensure the product penetrates all pores.
  • Allow proper drying time between each coat. A minimum of two coats is necessary, and some products may require three or four for maximum protection.
  • Apply subsequent coats in a different direction, especially on floors, to achieve uniform coverage.
  • Use a thick coat to ensure a proper seal and avoid streaks.
  • Work from the top down on vertical surfaces to avoid drips.

3. Clean up and dry

  • Clean tools and brushes with soap and water immediately after use.
  • All MasonryGuard to cure for 24 before use.

For best results, apply at 80-100 ft2 per gallon (400-500 ft2 per pail = 16-20 wet mils) based upon location, surface texture, porosity, age and application method. Does not include loss from over-spray or over-use.
