X4 (Ready-to-use) is a clear, water repellant sealant for cement and concrete based facades/claddings, surfaces, structural and building materials. It prevents freeze/thaw expansion, moisture absorption, deterioration and damage.

X4 is an excellent water repellent for many absorbent mineral substrates, such as bricks, sand-lime brick, natural sandstone and mineral plasters. It is not suitable for less absorbent, dense natural stone, especially limestone, marble and reinforced concrete for bridges and roads. Owing to its aqueous consistency and storage stability, X4 is ideal for in-plant impregnation of building materials made of clay, aerated concrete, sand-lime brick, fibrous cement, mineral fibers and lightweight aggregate. X4 may also serve as a water repellent primer for emulsion paints and plasters, silicone resin emulsion paints and silicone resin plasters.

Each gallon is expected to cover an average of 175-250 ft2 per coat of X4. Coverage may vary due to surface texture, porosity, age and application method. This does not include loss from over-spray or over-use.

Exterior surfaces and where preventing moisture absorption is important
X4 is best applied by sprayer to the point of complete saturation to obtain an even coverage and penetration. After the first coat is applied and the surface has absorbed by not yet completely dried, a second application applied perpendicular to the first coat is recommended.
X4 was designed with wind-driven and wicking moisture in mind.
Moisture from wind-driven rain can gradually or abruptly raise the moisture content of exterior materials like concrete, aggregate, mortar joints, EIFS, stucco, wood, and composite materials. As moisture content increases, mold, moss, algae and other unsightly biologicals can grow and spread. In addition, from season to season, this increased moisture content, especially through freeze-thaw cycles, can lead to unrecoverable expansion, contraction and erosion of surfaces, drastically reducing their life expectancy. Finally, as increased moisture content wicks or migrates (as liquid or vapor) gradually into the structure substrates and cavities without the ability to dry, conditions that support mold growth are likely to occur.
Keeps Surfaces Dry
X4 creates a transparent barrier that works by bonding to surfaces in a vertical orientation and reduces surface. Moisture sits on top of the vertically aligned molecule preventing surface contact and absorption.
Helps Surfaces Last Longer
By keeping surfaces dry, the normal wear and tear associated with water's ability to erode from movement and alkalinity is eliminated thereby reducing maintenance and repair costs over time.
Prevents Freeze/Thaw Damage
X4's ability to eliminate moisture absorption and to keep water out of semi-porous surfaces, prior to freezing temperatures, is a priority in preventing the expansion and contraction cycles associated with seasonal freeze/thaw. This dramatically increases the longevity of surfaces to minimize maintenance and repair costs.
Resists Dirt & Graffiti
Because X4 is hydrophobic (water-hating) and because X4 is cationic (has a positive charge), X4 naturally resists dirt accumulation and prevents the adhesion of water-based paints. This feature helps reduce or prevent unplanned for restoration expenses.
While X4 eliminates the capillary absorption of moisture into surfaces, it does not clog the pores or capillaries of a substrate thereby maintaining a building's vapor permeability.
Incorporates Into Products
X4 can also be incorporated into products like concrete, cement and paints to provide superior adhesion and curing as well as to impart the same resistance to water, dirt and water-based paint already described.
Great for both Old and New Surfaces
Stopping moisture absorption into surfaces is always a good idea. X4 can be used on both new and old surfaces alike.
X4 is expected to last 5 to 7 years on exterior surfaces. To ensure best performance over time, and due to changing environmental factors, a simple Rilem test to monitor moisture resistance can be used to indicate or predict maintenance over time guaranteeing maximum performance.
