Dutrion vs. Competitor Brands

Each dilution of competitor brands correspond with differing kills claims. Note that not all brands will be a sporicide which is the most important kills claim when connected to mold remediation. Regardless, each gallon of concentrate (theoretically) will make 32-64 ready to use gallons of disinfectant. This probably breaks down to between $0.70 and $1.40 per ready to use gallon. To my knowledge, both dilutions require a 10-minute wet contact time. Note that competitor brands can be a quaternary ammonium chloride compound that leaves a film on surfaces once dry.

Dutrion has two dilutions. For the 20-gram tablet, 1 tablet can make 5 gallons of disinfectant requiring a 5 minute wet contact time (that’s your bactericide, fungicide, odorcide) OR 4 tablets can make 5 gallons of sanitizer requiring a 1 minute contact time (that’s your sporicide, virucide). A 1 tablet per 5 gallon dilution gives you a cost of $1.40/gallon and your 4 tablet per 5 gallon dilution gives you a cost of $5.60. The difference in cost of course accounts for a better product that give you the full spectrum of efficacy including the most important sporicidal claim.

Note that Dutrion does not leave a film behind on surfaces.

One additional thought. Wet contact time is ultimately what determines cost. A 1-minute contact time theoretically requires 10 times less product than a 10-minute wet contact time. So even though Dutrion may cost $5.60 to make a gallon of virucide, Competitor products can  cost $14.00 (or more) to treat the same size surface ($1.40 x 10 minutes). In the end, Dutrion is the best value in terms of cost and performance.
